Basque's are available in lots of different styles and are designed to provide shape to the upper body. Designs vary considerably but in general the main body of the basque is boned, and suspenders are attached to it's bottom edges. The firmness of the boning varies, and is dependent on the level of support you require. Basque's also provide differing degrees of support to the bust, so you need to take into account when selecting a basque. For example soft cups provide limited support, while underwired cups provide full support.
